NA Vice President Receives U.S. Ambassador
1 / 3

On April 2, the RA NA Vice President Vahe Enfiajyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Armenia Lynne Tracy. The NA Vice President thanked the Ambassador for the numerous programs implemented with the U.S. assistance in Armenia and in Artsakh.

“It very responsible period for Armenia full of ordeals. The U.S. balanced approach in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship has been important for us, as due to the efforts of the superpowers it is possible to achieve stable peace and solution of problems,” Vahe Enfiajyan noted, touching upon the painful realties of the post-war period. The Vice President has noticed that Azerbaijan destroys monuments, churches and cross-stones of Armenian historical-cultural importance. “They pursue denial policy and ignore the high mission of UNESCO directed to the preservation of such most important values,” he noted.

Enfiajyan also has informed that Azerbaijan also ignores the principles stipulated by the tripartite statement ‘all for all’ reached in the issue of the exchange of captives and prisoners of war. The Ambassador Lynne Tracy has noted that they work in this direction with the Azerbaijani authorities, urging to return the kept persons as soon as possible. According to her, there have been also certain responses: particularly, the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross Organization have been able to see the captive servicemen from Hadrut. Besides the issue related to the return of the captives and prisoners of war, the U.S. Embassy tries also to support in the identification of the remains of the deceased, cooperating with the RA Ministry of Health. “There are such 100 cases,” the Ambassador clarified. She also informed that during the post-war period the U.S. implemented assistance programs of 5mln USD for the Artsakh residents suffered because of war.
